Richmond Virginia: When the Lights go Out
Sometimes we do things and afterward we have no idea why we did them.
Such was the case during a night I spent in Richmond Virginia. I had
enjoyed a few days visiting Charleston South Carolina during which time I
visited several of the plantations in the area, Fort Sumter, and
enjoyed the dining and facilities of the battery area.
I was disappointed in the weather, it being May I had expected warmer weather, it seems the area was experiencing a colder than normal spring. It was time to leave Charleston, but not yet time to go home, so I decided to drive up the coast to visit Fredericksburg Virginia, some place I had always wanted to visit , but never had the opportunity until now. So I bid farewel to the beautiful area around Charleston and headed north.
Taking my time, it was well after dark when I arrived in Richmond , Virginia. Not wanting to drive into Fredericksburg after dark , I decided to overnight in Richmond. Trying to live on some what of a budget , I found a Motel 6 and stopped for the evening. The parking lot was full of semi trucks, I decided if it was good enough for a trucker, it was good enough for me. As I unpacked my meager belongings, hunger suddenly engulfed me, as there was a restaurant across the street, that would be my next destination. With a full stomach, the only thing on my mind was getting a good nights rest, as I wanted to fully enjoy the next day while in Fredericksburg.
That was not to be, I found myself wide awake at 2:30 in the morning, my mind was racing. Realizing there was no need to try and sleep I got up and opened my atlas of the United States and began thumbing through the pages. I had no idea what I was looking for. Soon I was checking the map of Virginia, Indiana, and New Mexico. Soon I began drawing lines on the United Sates map, noticing that US highway 60 runs from Richmond Virginia to Clovis New Mexico and beyond. There seemed to be a correlation between Clovis and Roswell, the site of the 1947 UFO crash. While drawing my little circles and lines , I also noticed that if one would draw a line from Richmond Virginia, to southern Indiana, my home , and on to Roswell and back to Richmond Virgina, it would form a perfect triangle.
Several years later and I still have no clue as to the significance of all this. Since I lost a good nights sleep over it, I would appreciate it if someone could enlighten me. Oh, by the way, I did still enjoy Fredericksburg.
